Today, the 27th edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), the world’s largest club festival and most influential business conference for electronic music, has officially kicked off. The program features over 1,000 events and initiatives in 200 locations throughout Amsterdam, hosting over 2,500 artists and speakers throughout the five days and nights. The organisation expects 450,000 visitors for its 2022 edition. This year also marks the long-awaited return of the ADE Pro conference to the event’s home base Felix Meritis, with Pro conference tickets fully sold out.

ADE Wednesday sees a number of opening shows, with notable events including the sixth edition of the collaboration concert by Metropole Orkest at Melkweg, this year teaming up with electronic music pioneer Suzanne Ciani, as well as Nick Verstand’s multidisciplinary performance Within Without II at Royal Theatre Carré. The official closing of the ADE week will take place at NDSM wharf with the free ADE Hangover event.

This year’s conference program pays ample attention to the future for the electronic music industry with a number of innovative showcases, such as ADE Blendrealities. The hybrid event has physical conference visitors present at Felix Meritis and virtual users partaking in the event from around the world as an avatar, together exploring the accelerated impact of artificial intelligence. The event is free to access virtually via an RSVP on ADE’s website.

The ADE Arts & Culture program extends the organisation’s innovative character, with a substantial part of the offering focusing on overarching themes, including co-creating with innovative technologies, alongside mental health, mindfulness, social impact and the crossovers between classical arts and modern electronic sounds.

This year also marks the first edition of the new program track ADE Lab, focused on talent development, creativity, inspiration and education. The program offers four days of masterclasses, studio sessions, demo pitches and contests, providing the next generation of producers and music professionals the opportunity to learn from world class artists including Carl Cox, Peggy Gou, Oliver Heldens, Reinier Zonneveld, Ellen Allien, San Holo and others.

Visitors in Amsterdam and anyone interested can follow the full event live on ADE’s Live Feed, taking over the homepage of the organisation’s website from Wednesday, October 19th through Sunday, October 23rd.

The Amsterdam Dance Event Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to nurturing electronic music, its culture and its industry worldwide. The organisation devotes itself to stimulating development, innovation and talent, gathering the global industry and laying a foundation for future generations.
