This summer, an Ibiza icon returns renewed. As Café del Mar celebrates 45 unforgettable years on the island, the legendary venue unveils a bold new chapter—complete with a fresh aesthetic, refined sonic identity, and an evolved culinary direction that promises to heighten every sunset ritual.
Synonymous with the spirit of Ibiza, Café del Mar has long been the heartbeat of the island’s sunset culture—a sanctuary where world-class chillout music meets sweeping sea views and Mediterranean charm. Now, as it enters a new era, the brand embarks on an exciting transformation, expanding the venue, elevating its food and drink offerings, and breathing new life into its signature sound.
But this evolution doesn’t mean abandoning the past—it means amplifying it. The soul of Café del Mar remains deeply rooted in its Balearic DNA. This season, that spirit comes alive through curated lineups, collaborations with the island’s most influential promoters and record labels, and a renewed focus on after-sunset experiences featuring resident DJs and exclusive brand events.
To commemorate the milestone, Café del Mar recently dropped the fifth installment of its celebrated Chill Out Mix series. The birthday celebrations continue with the release of a monumental 30-track anniversary compilation featuring an eclectic mix of legendary artists—think Frankie Knuckles, Röyksopp, Aphex Twin, Derrick May, Todd Terje, Moby, and Guy Called Gerald. And there’s more to come: expect new artist albums, a wave of fresh mixes, and limited vinyl re-pressings of classic compilations.
Adding another layer to this immersive journey is the introduction of Ibiza’s very first Elara.6 mixer—a cutting-edge piece of audio design engineered by industry legend Andy Rigby-Jones, known for his work with MasterSounds and Allen & Heath’s Xone series. With its state-of-the-art features and pristine sound quality, the new booth setup is poised to deliver a listening experience that’s as unforgettable as the view.
Culinary innovation also takes center stage this season. Launching in June, Café del Mar’s revamped menu offers an elevated approach to Mediterranean cuisine, weaving together flavors that reflect the island’s cultural depth and modern global influences. As Ibiza continues to redefine lifestyle and luxury, food remains one of its most expressive art forms—and Café del Mar is right at the forefront.
Music Manager and resident DJ Ken Fan shares the sentiment:
“We’re thrilled to welcome guests back this summer. Reaching our 45th year is a massive milestone. From shaping the Balearic sound to becoming a soundtrack for millions of memories, Café del Mar has been part of the island’s soul. This year, we continue that journey with even more creativity, passion, and music.”
From its humble beginnings in 1980 on San Antonio’s sun-drenched coast, Café del Mar has evolved into a global cultural emblem. Its blend of sound, scene, and setting not only defined the chillout genre but also elevated sunset watching into an art form. Now with locations spanning continents—from Spain to Thailand—Café del Mar’s essence continues to ripple worldwide.
As the 2025 season dawns, Café del Mar stands not just as a venue, but as a living legacy—45 years strong, and still setting the sun to music.
