More than a music festival, Sziget is the ultimate escapism adventure where two days are not the same thanks to a rich programme featuring performances from the best names in pop, rock, electronic and R&B. Across more than 50 stages, the festival hosts an array of impressive art installations, cabaret, comedy, social justice and panels featuring cultures from around the world.

Sziget 2023 welcomes new headliners including the British folk rock band Mumford & Sons joins the bill with their raucous, fast-paced sonically dense instrumentation and iconic hits like ‘I Will Wait’ and ‘Little Lion Man’. After reintroducing ‘The Solar Power’ Tour this year, following her latest album release in 2021, Lorde sets to take over Sziget’s main stage for her fluid unconventional pop style and prepare to sing along to her chart-topper tunes. Following his 2023 album release ‘Ben’, Seattle star and Grammy winner, Macklemore, sets to exert enormous energy with famous hits for crowds to rap along to in full flow.

Similarly famous for his introspective songwriting and joining the star-studded line-up is London rapper Loyle Carner, who will be performing his critically acclaimed new album ‘Hugo’ released in 2022. Elsewhere the American singer Caroline Polachek will perform her rich melodic odyssey with her transformative pop.

Further ready to drop bars, is Swedish rapper Yung Lean, widely cited as one of the most influential figures in the early cloud rap era.

Stepping up the energy factor is Bonobo, labelled as being one of the most travelled artists, welcoming an upbeat vibe with innovative electronic mixes and igniting a euphoric feeling for fans. Also spinning the decks is a band of two, Tale Of Us, renowned for their Italian music production and DJing. Expect the duo to fire up the crowd with a high-intensity techno set, inviting one of the best rave experiences and unmatched dancing from crowds. Another acclaimed duo, ready to rock the stage is post-punk UK-raised Sleaford Mods, promising to shake the masses with their politically charged lyrics.

EDM, techno, minimal, trance, and house fans, prepare for a primary base at the party centre of the island and join talented and iconic DJs till dawn at the Party Arena. Hosting nights to remember are Next Level, Rampage, Q-Dance and Awakenings. Crossing borders and bringing a piece of techno heaven to the Island of Freedom, Awakenings will host their first-ever festival takeover at Sziget on the 11th of August. Next Level is a Budapest-based premium bass music series that throws the country’s biggest parties. It also has a music school with several creative projects under its culture-focused brand. Thrown into the mix are Rampage, the most giant drum & bass and dubstep party on the planet and the best productions around for EDM.

Chief Organizer at Sziget, Tamás Kádár added: ‘The list of Main Stage headliners is complete with day tickets now available. In addition to the previously announced headliners on the Main Stage – Billie Eilish, David Guetta, Florence + the Machine and Imagine Dragons – Mumford & Sons, Lorde and Macklemore have recently joined the line-up, and more than 30 other international performers are announced on different stages.’

In addition to the world-class music programme, Tamás Kádár highlighted three important developments for this year’s festival. ‘Art of Freedom will return to Sziget 2023, aiming to add visual power to the diverse world of the Island of Freedom with striking, thought-provoking and stunning artworks and space installations. The sanitation blocks will be completely renewed, with almost all the mobile toilets disappearing from the festival, replaced by containers with flush toilets. ‘Last year there were issues with the dust due to the unusual drought, but in 2023 we are taking action on several fronts to ensure this does not happen again. For one thing, we ‘re-greenified’ our island at the end of last year, eliminating the deficiencies in the grassy soil caused by the drying out. We are working on that a similar incident does not occur again, and that we can ensure continuous irrigation with water from the Danube in case of drought. In addition, we are using a new dust prevention treatment throughout the festival area, the essence of which is that the process uses the humidity of the air to form a slightly moist layer on the ground – thus preventing dust from getting into the air’.

Sziget returns in 2023 between 10 – 15 August 2023. Six-day tickets are now on sale starting at €325. For more details on Sziget head to szigetfestival.com.
